Donielle and Noel

November 23rd 2013

It’s THE LOVE STORY of our Bride and Groom, Donielle and Noel,
and it’s far from over.
DSC_0032They both grew up outside Bakersfield. Noel, three years older, spent the first 13 years of his life in downtown Los Angeles; the youngest of two sons with a single mother. Donielle, on the other hand, was born and raised in Sacramento with her Mom, Dad and Older sister, and moved here with her family when she was 15. As a kid, Noel was into sports, mischief and hanging out with the neighborhood kids; walking or biking for miles to a swimming pool or park, looking to join in a sports game or good old fashioned water balloon fight. Donielle, on the other hand, was more shy. She liked gymnastics and dance, but hung out mostly with family. Then came that fateful night when Noel walked into WalMart with his friend needing a key. Donielle was working overnights as a cashier and “goback” restocker. Noel found it impossible to leave the store without asking for her name and number … and she gave it to him.

DSC_0055He picked her up for their first date. She was all dressed up: HE was wearing jeans, a tshirt and a leather wallet with a chain that she will never forget. They went to Que Pasa for dinner, but then, according to Noel, she beat him mercilessly at pool at The Corner Pocket. According to Donielle, she sucked at playing pool so he played while she watched. Noel was mystified that she was winning every game; Donielle thought she was losing.

His first impression was “wow, she’s strong headed! She tells it just like it is and is not afraid to share what’s on her mind”. Her first impression was “he’s sweet, and nice, but totally not my type”. But then they went out again, on a cold day at Camelot, riding the gocarts. He noticed she tied her hoodie all the way up, so tight that all he could see were her nose and her eyes as she zipped past him, and that cute little ‘wink, wink, wink’ that somehow made losing okay. He calls it one of their best dates.

They both agree that he fell in love first. HE knew when they’d been out driving around together, something they often did, about 23 months into the relationship, and he started to share those very important words. She was in shock. SHE remembers it happening about 5 or 6 months into the relationship when she and Megan were visiting Aunt Billie in Washington. She talked about how mean she could be to Noel, and they got into a huge fight about it, causing Aunt Billie to become uncomfortable …. but it was right then that Donielle realized that she really DID like him …. LOVE him …. and couldn’t risk losing him because, she wanted to be with him forever.

His favorite time with her is any time they spend alone together, which is hard with four kids. He says that she makes The Best Sandwiches EVER, if they use exactly the same ingredients, hers are always better than he can make for himself. His favorite song that reminds him of her is “Far Away” by Nickleback, a song about staying together and never leaving.

Donielle says she loves everything about him … calling him a kind, hardworking and dedicated family man. The Proposal came after they had already been together for five years and had a second child on the way. Noel was nervous … and she kept thinking “I’ve been WAITING for this, don’t you know I’ll say Yes?” And she did, and we’re here, celebrating the official joining of two families forever!

The Love Story of Kayla & Chad Williams

1269324_10151666399969226_255993549_oIt’s time to meet our Bride & Groom, but now that you know so much about the friends in their Wedding Party, let’s introduce them with a little bit of their love story.

Life is always about the little things … strange twists and turns that eventually lead us to somewhere important.
Here, we have two kids that grew up initially in Taft, but never met each other. Each of them had divorced parents, and spent some time going back and forth to stay with one or the other … and still they didn’t met.
They shared common interests in paintballing, offroading and just having fun …. and still they didn’t meet.
Then, as the Fates would have it, Chad and Kayla both ended up at The Bullshed bar the night before new year’s eve in 2011:
he for his friend’s birthday party; she, just out with friends.
Kayla said she saw him leaning up against the outside bar, lookin’ all sexy in his cowboy hat. Not a shy girl, she just walked right up to the bar and bumped into him.
Chad politely asked if she wanted some more room, and she said nope, she was fine. They drank and talked and enjoyed the evening with friends, but forgot to exchange numbers.
Now, Kayla didn’t know it, but Chad and his friends went to that same bar every weekend for the next three months, just waiting to see if she would show up again. Finally, she did. Chad remembers saying “Hey, you got some pretty boots, what’s your name?” to start off the conversation. Kayla, on the other hand, just remembers that they picked up right where they left off again, and he was saying all the right things.
They ended up leaving together, though Chad had to ride in a carseat.
Now both call their “first date” the family breakfast they had the next morning.

Chad says at three months in, he knew Kayla was THE ONE.
Kayla says it was more like five months before he said I Love You. Chad grabbed her hand waiting for Ryan to show up at his house, looked her in the eyes, kissed her on the forhead and told her he loved her.
Kayla answered “I love you back”, because then SHE KNEW he was the one.

Chad’s mom Terri said she knew it was for real when Chad introduced them … he told her he would never introduce her to any other girlfriends until he found the one he wanted to spend his life with, and she fell in love with Kayla, too. Terri says “Any woman that can watch my Chad change a tire, with a big ‘ol smile lighting her whole face, is alright with me.”

1271084_10151666397424226_2126936456_oNow that they were all sure, the day finally came and Chad asked her to marry him. Never a guy to just do things the normal way, he showed up from work early one day with a pink and black ring made out of duct tape,
with a little nut on top for the diamond.
Kayla had always cautioned him not to ask until he was %500 percent sure he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, but who could’ve guessed the question would come with a duct tape ring and his dog? As the dog licked around them both happily, Kayla could barely answer “Yes”.
And then about three weeks later, he traded the original ring for the real one, making Kayla go all misty-eyed. But that duct tape is still with them, and is just as important to her as the biggest diamond in the world.
It’s just Chad’s way.

Ladies & Gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to introduce our husband and wife Chad and Kayla Williams.1266280_10151666401779226_209061369_o

THE LOVE STORY OF DAVID & LINDA HERNANDEZ
“The Reason” Earth, Wind & Fire Instrumental

DSCN0512ld38It’s finally time to meet the guests of honor, our newly re-married Bride & Groom. As we celebrate today, let’s take a look back at where this Love Story began.

David & Linda both grew up in Bakersfield, but they were from different high schools and areas of town. Their lives took different paths at first. But April 26, 1980, was a life-changing day for both of them when they were introduced at a party at The Bakersfield Inn.

They agreed it was probably six months before the actual words “I Love You” were spoken, but no one is sure who said it first. The important thing is they FELT it, from the very first moment, and they never separated from that day forward. Just before Christmas, David asked Linda’s father for permission; not only for his daughter’s hand in marriage, but to ask for his granddaughter, little four-year-old Vanessa, to become part of a new little family together.

The years came and went, and their love continued to grow. They were blessed with beautiful children and three wonderful grandchildren. Day-by-day, they experienced the joys and sorrows of marriage.

Tonight, they fulfill a life-long dream, reaffirming their vows in a big church wedding, surrounded by family and friends; celebrating with the most important people in their lives.

Please stand and join me in welcoming our guests of honor and celebrate the love that has bound them for 32 years and counting …

Mr. and Mrs. David and Linda Hernandez

The Story of Tarron & Ashleigh

It’s finally time to meet our bride and groom, and hear “The Story of Tarron and Ashleigh”.

They met at UC Riverside and started hanging out.   The first thing they realized was that their sense of humor meshed perfectly.  They danced, went to the movies, ate together …. But most importantly, shared A LOT of laughs.

Ashleigh moved to Oregon, and Tarron came to visit.  Both were nervous.  He was afraid to eat her cooking for the first time, believing that “white people can’t cook”.  She was worried that their “big personalities” could clash at some point.  As it turned out, he LOVED her cooking:  and she discovered that they put up with each other quite well.  “Huh, this could work”, she thought.

They soon became each other’s “Person”, and their relationship grew.

Tarron decided he wanted to make Ashleigh his person forever.  He tried to call her parents to ask for their blessing … but they didn’t answer.  So he asked Ashleigh to try them on her phone.  She never thought about WHY he wanted to talk to them, just handed him the phone and went on with her day.  Tarron got his permission and began planning the perfect proposal.

He asked her to go golfing with him on Men’s Night, the first woman ever invited.  Then he emailed all their friends to get them in on it.  On August 17, 2011, Tarron stuck the ring box inside the first hole while their friends hid behind trees and in the restaurant.

Ashleigh, having no idea, couldn’t understand WHY he was rushing her to hurry up and get ready?  And WHY were there so many people out on the course on Men’s night?  Distracted and frustrated, it took her FOREVER to finish that hole.  At one point, she wanted to quit.  When she got close, she said “there’s something in there”!

“Oh, it’s just somebody else’s ball. Finish it”, came the reply.

Finally, the ball went into the hole, and there was Tarron on one knee as friends started coming out of their hiding places.  She plucked out her ball, knelt again to grab what was under it, and handed him the ring box saying “Whaaaaat?”

…and the rest is history.

Almost two years to the day later, here we are;  and Tarron, you succeeded!  She got the ring, you got the story.

Tonight it gives me great pleasure to introduce you not only as one another’s persons, but as husband and wife.

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Mr. and Mrs. Tarron and Ashley Anderson!
